Good-Bye

It's a shame that 'tough economic times" are being blamed for the demise of Circuit City when blatant mismanagement is closer to the truth.

Once upon a time, Circuit City was a great store. They had variety and selection, reasonable prices, and a reasonably knowlegeable staff.

I'm not quite sure when the change really happened, but for me, the final straw was almost two years ago when I wrote two letters to the corporate offices describing some pretty blatant problems - and was completely ignored. They never responded. Nothing.

For a solid year I did not walk back into Circuit City, and never would have darkened their doorstep again, had it not been for my computer crashing - and the fact that I had purchased the extended warranty. I seriously considered just trashing the computer and buying a new one elsewhere, but decided to give them another chance.

That decision resulted in 54 days of incompetence, my computer never getting fixed, and the launching of this website.

The company finally honored their contract and gave me a new computer, but by that point, the relationship was completely over.

We bought our flat screen TV elesewhere. If I needed electronics of any type, I went elsewhere - even though Circuit City was maybe two miles from my front door.

It started by not addressing a simple - legitimate - letter of complaint. They lost all of their credibility - and as a result, lost all of our electronics sales.

And now, they're history.

So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye.
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye.

"Regrettably for the more than 30,000 employees of Circuit City and our loyal customers, we were unable to reach an agreement with our creditors and lenders, so this is the only possible path for our company."
